Q2 2026 Newsletter

Dear Colleagues,

This was originally meant to be our 2025 winter update and we had good intentions to send it out in December, but we’ve been working on several projects that took longer than we had expected. So, we hope you’ll feel that this newsletter was worth the wait! We wish everyone a very belated happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!

Webinar Series Update

We’d like to thank the over 90 low vision professionals who registered for each of our two previous webinars—Intro to Bioptic Prescribing, and Prescribing Bioptics for Driving. Recordings of these can be found at https://ocutech.com/educational-webinar/

Our next webinar, Managing Hemianopsia and Tunnel Vision, will be presented on Wed, May 13, 2026 at 2pm ET. Register to attend. If you cannot join us in person, please register anyway, as we’ll send all registrants a link to the recording after the webinar is held.

Suggestions for future topics are most welcome. Please submit them If we can’t present it ourselves, we’ll try to find someone who can!

Updated Order and Loaner forms are now available on the website for download/fax or by email submissions

The new forms make it easy to order all the extras that we now offer including the NEO frames, lens material options, Chemistrie filter clips, etc. We’ll keep reminding you to use the new forms which will help us get your orders exactly right! You can download a full set of PDF order forms . Of course you can still use our online ordering portal.

Making the business side of your life a little easier.

Ocutech now offers a secure online payment portal, allowing you to send payments conveniently without mailing checks or sharing your credit card details over the phone. You can find the link at the top right of the homepage.

We’re proud to announce that after hundreds of hours of hard work, we have been awarded the official international certification for our quality management systems.

This milestone reflects the high standards built into our operations and reinforces our commitment to delivering high-quality products and service to you and your patients.

The Ocutech Falcon Autofocus for Bioptic Driving: The only bioptic that will let the driver see the dashboard!

While bioptics are great to help patients see further up the road, reading the dashboard can be difficult—if not impossible. Modern vehicles have increasingly complex dashboards filled with text, symbols, and dynamic digital displays.

The Ocutech Falcon Autofocus is the only bioptic that enables drivers to see both the road and the dashboard, supporting safer and more confident driving. Read our White paper here for the full story

Product news:

SightScope Bottom-View:

We now offer a new SightScope telescope mounting option called the Bottom-View. It orients the telescopes in a bifocal position and the fully adjustable design eliminates the need for special measurements. We recommend providing the distance vision Rx in the carrier lenses and prescribe either the SightScope (1.7x or 2.2x) with slip-on reading caps (+0.50 to +4.00 in 0.50 D steps) or the SightScope NearView which features permanently attached reading caps (+1.00 to +3.00 in 0.50 D steps). All reading caps include BI prism to support fusion at near. Higher powers are available by special order.

The SideSight™ Collision Alert System:

Now CE certified (joining all of Ocutech’s optical bioptic systems), SideSight helps patients with visual field loss navigate safely using intuitive vibration feedback. Well received by patients with Hemianopsia and Tunnel Vision, SideSight has become quite popular with OTs, PTs, and in VAMCs and Stroke Rehab programs.

There’s virtually no learning curve- just put it on and walk! It will vibrate to warn you of a possible collision. That’s all there is to it! Learn more on the SideSight Product Page.
SideSight is also available through our loaner program. Contact us to request a loaner.

We are proud to announce that all of our metal frames are now made in Hypoallergenic Stainless Steel!

They’re stiffer, lighter weight and less likely to cause skin irritation. And no extra charge! A good deal all around! Here’s a link to our frame tech sheet that has our metal and NEO frame styles. The Tech sheet also has suggested seg heights for bifocal carrier lenses. We offer special pricing on both our metal and NEO frame sample kits.
