Let Our Bioptics Enhance Your Vision and Your Life
Why enhancing distance vision is so important
Distance vision is an important social sense that allows us to make eye contact, read body language, and feel connected to the world around us. Not being able to recognize people at a distance or see the world around you clearly, can make an individual feel isolated, insecure and sometimes even depressed. Ocutech's bioptic low vision aids can provide a transformative experience that enhances both one's vision and one's life.
Bioptics can Impact the Opportunities of Individuals of all Ages
From kids, adults to seniors. Schooling, career and social engagement can all flourish with the help of low vision care. It's an investment that will pay dividends for years and years, maybe even a lifetime. Sure, they may look a little unusual, but many Ocutech wearers will tell you that their bioptic has changed their lives.
What is Low Vision?
Low vision means having impaired vision that cannot be corrected by glasses, surgery or medication.
In adults the most common cause of low vision is macular degeneration, an age-related disease that affects one's central vision causing a reduction in sharp vision for reading, fine-detail activities, watching TV and even recognizing faces. Other causes of reduced central vision include glaucoma, diabetes and Stargardt's Disease among others.
Children can be born with reduced vision due to genetic disorders including albinism, nystagmus, achromatopsia, and rod-cone disorders among many others.
Some vision disorders result in a reduction of peripheral vision (side vision) from diagnoses including Retinitis Pigmentosa, Choroideremia and late stage glaucoma. These disorders are said to create 'tunnel vision' which also lessens the ability to see at night and in darker environments.
Bioptics Explained
The term 'bioptic' describes a vision-enhancing system that combines a telescopic device with conventional eyeglasses. The telescope, often perched at the top of the eyeglass frame, allows you with a little tip of the head, to seamlessly transition between ones regular eyeglass vision and the magnified view provided by the telescope. This ingenious design allows you to conveniently enhance your vision without interrupting your activities.
The Next Step to Enhancing Your Vision is Up to You!
While medical science may not yet be able to reverse reduced vision, embracing vision enhancing technology is crucial to help you maximize your ability to see the best you can.
It is recommended that you visit two eyecare doctors: a doctor to manage the medical aspects of your condition, and also a low vision specialist to help you maximize your ability to use the vision you do have.
